Capability
HAZOP, LOPA and SIL studiesfacilitated by practising engineers.
Baker Hughes engaged ATG for SIL, LOPA and functional safety assessment workshops in Jubail, Dammam and Singapore across 2023–2025. The facilitators are control-systems engineers who have commissioned the systems the studies specify.

What ATG delivers
Scope we takeunder our own contract.
- HAZOP facilitation and scribing, node definition, recording and close-out tracking.
- LOPA — initiating events, independent protection layers, target SIL determination.
- SIL verification — PFDavg calculation, architectural constraints, proof-test interval optimisation.
- Safety requirement specification and cause and effect development from the study output.
- Functional safety assessment (FSA) at stages 1 to 5 and gap assessment of existing safety systems.
- Alarm rationalisation and management of change reviews for operating plants.
Platforms and vendors supported
- IEC 61511 lifecycle
- exSILentia / SIL calculation tooling
- Client HAZOP software (PHA-Pro, PHAWorks) or ATG worksheets
Standards applied
- IEC 61511 / ISA 84
- IEC 61508
- IEC 61882 (HAZOP)
- CCPS LOPA guidance
Typical scope of work

- PrepareNode marking, P&ID and C&E gathering, team briefing, terms of reference.
- FacilitateHAZOP, LOPA and SIL workshops with a documented, traceable record.
- CalculateSIL verification, PFDavg, HFT, proof-test intervals and spurious trip rate.
- ReportStudy report, SRS input, recommendations register with owners and close-out evidence.

Frequently asked
Questions buyers askbefore the shortlist.
Is the study independent of the implementation?
Yes. Where ATG facilitates a study we do not mark our own homework — the assessment and any implementation scope are kept separate and reported separately.
How long does a SIL study take?
A packaged equipment scope is typically two to five workshop days plus reporting; a process unit depends on node count. We agree the programme and the deliverables list before the workshop.
Can the workshops be held at our plant in Jubail or Yanbu?
Yes. ATG engineers are based in Al-Khobar and mobilise to Jubail, Dammam, Yanbu, Jeddah, Rabigh and Riyadh routinely.
